20 years Hatha Yoga Ipswich

Back in 2006 on Tuesday evening 31st of October at 6pm I was teaching my first Yoga class here in Ipswich, at the Scout Hall in Cameron Park. Yes, this class is still going, same time, same place. Many of you have come and gone and returned over the past years. I’ve introduced other classes, times and locations. One of the biggest changes has probably been that now we have Yogis joining the class on Zoom from the comfort of their homes.

To celebrate this occasion I’m teaching a Yoga class on Saturday 31st October 2026 at the Scout Hall in Cameron Park, Easton Street, Booval. You can arrive from 9am onwards, the class itself will be from 9:30am – 11am.

The Yoga class will be a mix of the classical Hatha Yoga and Seniors / chair Yoga class, including breathing practices. Therefore I please ask you to book for this class. So I can prepare better, and know how many of you to expect. Please let me know in class next time I see you, or send me a text 0423 477 725 to book your spot. Or if you would like to join on Zoom. Usual cost per class. Thank you !!

Back in those days I used to place my flyers all over Ipswich at the different notice boards in cafes, shops, etc. Since then I share mainly Facebook posts, blogposts on the website and newsletter. The phone number is the same, email and website are outdated.

Tadasana

Tadasana (the mountain pose)

Tadasana in general is the starting position for all the standing poses. But it’s useful to practice Tadasana as a steady posture by itself. Stay in the pose for 30 seconds to 1 minute, breathing easily.

You can do this before and after a few rounds of Sun Salutations. Tune into your body and feel the difference.

It’s a very good posture to help with grounding. Especially beneficial when done outdoors, standing barefoot on Mother Earth.

Grounding, barefoot on the earth. (Maria 2025)

    Creative Meditation

    Hi There,

This is a spontanous subject and idea for our Meditation class tomorrow Friday 24 October at 5pm. (please contact me for location details).

We have a big rosemary bush growing in the herb – garden. I’m inspired to talk about the benefits of rosemary and herbs in general “how can we use herbs to improve our state of mind and general well being, can it bring calmness?” To be creative and “drop the head into the heart”, will be making smudge sticks. Be inspired and surprised by this different approach to meditation. I look forward to share some herbalims as well. Maria
