| The Camel – Ustrasana. The camel pose, also known as the sitting wheel. This Yoga posture gives you all the benefits of the backward bends. Strengthens the thighs while improving the flexibility of the back. If your knees are sensitive and to protect them from pain, use a blanket or other cushion under your knees. In the beginning reach back with one arm only holding onto your foot, while stretching the other arm up to the sky. Alternatively place your hands on your lower back, leaning back as far as you can. Keep the chin forward, don’t tilt the head back, only the upper body. If this feels good, reach back with both hands to hold onto your feet. |

Atmanjali Mudra – Namaste
Atmanjali Mudra (gesture of prayer)
Also known as the “Salutation Seal,” this Mudra is one of the most recognisable hand positions in yoga. It is both a joining and a gesture of reverence.
Place both hands together in front of your heart chakra.
Placing your hands together in front of your chest supports inner collection and creates harmony, balance, repose, silence and peace. This gesture activates and harmonises coordination of the left and right brain hemispheres.
It can support a meditation when you have a request of the Divine, when you have a heart’s desire that you would like to have fulfilled. With this gesture, you also express reverence or gratitude.
In India, it is the gesture of greeting or thanks; it shows respect for fellow human beings. Namaste
(From the the book – Mudras – Yoga in your hands, by Gertrud Hirschi, page 144).
| Namaste (hand prayer position) Meaning: My soul honours your soul. I honour the place in you where the entire universe resides. I honour the light, love, truth, beauty & peace within you, because it is also within me. In sharing these things we are united, we are the same, we are one. |

Four Cycle Breath
Four cycle breath

Pranayama – four cycle breathing
You can practice the following breathing exercise anytime. I recommend several times per day, short 5 – 8 minutes to calm down the nervous system. Breathing away the hectic of the day. Releasing small amounts of stress each time you practice.
Breathing in through both nostrils, deeply and slowly to a count of 5. Hold the breath to a slow count of 5. Breathing out through both nostrils, very slowly, emptying the lungs completely to a count of 5. Pause and wait after the exhalation to a count of 5. Then inhale again…… Practice as many rounds as you wish in one setting.
I suggest a minimum of four to five rounds, anytime/anywhere during the day.
